Discovered these on line from a seller down in Dunedin. We looked at this as a rescue mission for what would have, at one time, been the life and soul of any recreation area. Now gracing the back of a cold garage.
This is an example of what we received. From what we could see on line we didn't even realise the stools had brass foot rests.
Brilliant..! The bar also had a brass foot rest...?
Now, that's a bar! The stools looking resplendent in their new shiny Zebra coats, sanded and stained wooden legs proudly standing with their heads held high and their brass foot rests shining in the candle light.
Now this is what I call a 'lovely pair' (amongst other things). Beautifully recovered in genuine Burchell zebra hide. Legs restored to their former glory and the brass...!! Stunning.....
The front of the bar has Burchell Zebra inlaid into the front panels - easy on the knees. Polished brass foot rail adds a lovely finishing touch.
Sold to us from a customer in Christchurch. He bought these stools on-line specifically for his daughters wedding. They called them the 'King & Queen' stools as these are what the new husband and wife sat on for the ceremony.
After the ceremony, due to their heavy weight and clunky handling, they thought they would put them up for adoption on the internet. That's where we first saw them and we just had to have them - they were looking so neglected..... :-)
We paid the money, arranged the shipping to Auckland (along with another project..) and started the reconstruction process. When we got them, the seats had obvious signs of wear and tear and the wood...!! That looked like it had had some shade of pea green painted, no.... thrown, over all the wood. We never noticed that the stools had brass footrails! Can you imagine our delight when we saw the brass...?
Tired old seats - gone. Soft cow hide cushioned seats now in place. The wood has been sanded back to a semblance of their former glory. The contrasting colours of the wood now mesmerise you.
Dare I say a gratuitous 'up-skirt' shot of a lovely set of legs? I'm loving the curves, the silky smooth inner contours with the tantalising dark crevices!
Avert your eyes towards the brilliant, bold, brass foot-rests and the seductive spread of the legs....
These two have certainly been on a journey. Built in 1985 (ask me about this) and been God knows where?? These 'babies' now have a new lease of life..... One word.... Hail......!
